Southern Cape Safari Overnight Tour 2 Day 1 Night
Southern Cape Safari Overnight Adventure
We set off from Cape Town on a 2 Day & 1 night Adventure towards the Garden Route exciting destination of Botlierskop Private Game Reserve – For an unforgettable Cape safari experience.
Nestled between the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains and the pristine beaches of the Indian Ocean, in the heart of the Garden Route, lies the 4,200-hectare Botlierskop Cape Safari Game Reserve. This malaria-free, family-owned, and privately operated reserve offers visitors an authentic African wildlife encounter.
Discovering Wildlife on the Garden Route
Botlierskop is home to an impressive abundance of animals, including four of the Big Five – lions, elephants, buffalo and rhinos – along with giraffes, hippos, golden wildebeest, mountain zebra, and even the rare black impala. With its diverse birdlife, meandering rivers, lush forest areas, rolling valleys, and rugged mountain plateaus, the reserve provides the perfect backdrop for an adventurous three-hour 4×4 safari game drive.
After immersing ourselves in the thrill of the wild, we pause for an authentic, traditional African lunch served in the elegant thatched-roof restaurant, a perfect way to reflect on the morning’s wildlife encounters.
Scenic Return Journey to Cape Town
By midday, we leave the game farm and begin our journey back to the Mother City, Cape Town. Our route leads us through the wide-open countryside of the Overberg region, a fertile farming area once known as the gateway to the Cape interior.
Along the way, we travel through Mossel Bay, Albertinia, and Riversdale, before stopping for a coffee break in Swellendam, South Africa’s third-oldest town. From here, we continue westward towards Cape Town.
Final Highlight: Sir Lowry’s Pass
No overnight tour would be complete without one last highlight – the spectacular Sir Lowry’s Pass. Rising to an elevation of 452 meters, this mountain pass offers sweeping views of False Bay, the surrounding mountains, lush green plains, and the sprawling Cape Peninsula, with the iconic Table Mountain visible in the distance.
Keep your eyes open – while marveling at the scenery, you may spot local baboons perched on the rocky outcrops. By late afternoon or early evening, we arrive back in Cape Town, marking the end of your 2-day, 1-night Cape Town safari and overnight tour.

Had ample time for shopping and lunch. A wonderful stop @ Boulders Beach to visit penguins and a love at first site to see Simons Town. Was sad to leave at the end of the day. Any tour would be great but I’d say full days are the greatest. Going back to Cape Town I’d book everyday with him. Thank you Patrick for being amazing keep on being you as you are simply the best.

I had the pleasure to (try) the “Mini” peninsula all day tour. Patrick met me at the lower table car station at Table Mountain to start the tour. I was… read more his only guest, so we had lot’s of time to chat. Being in CT for 30 years and doing mtb for more than 15, Patrick definitely knows the ins and outs and is a very good guide.
The views and impressions, but also the inside informations on the tour were very special and even though I had to realise I would not make it back to the cable car station (I was around 250 / 1500 altitude meters short…), I still loved every meter I rode.
Patrick was kind enough to go on on his self to get his car, after which he fetched me and brought me to my car.
In a nutshell: Patrick is a very nice and fit guy you enjoy being around with that knows the Cape very well. I can recommend booking him–should I be travelling to CT again, I will do so myself!
