Hermanus & Whale Watching Tour Highlights
Springtime Whale Watching in Cape Town
To begin, springtime in Cape Town marks the perfect season for a whale-watching tour.
Furthermore, during these months, Southern Right Whales migrate from icy Antarctica to the warm Cape Coast.
Coastal Journey to Hermanus
As a result, Walker Bay in Hermanus emerges as the ideal spot to view them up close.
Undoubtedly, this coastal haven offers some of the best whale-watching experiences in the region.
Firstly, our tour leaves Cape Town and journeys toward Hermanus along a dramatic coastal route.
Meanwhile, we pass through charming Gordon’s Bay and follow Clarence Drive for stunning views.
Furthermore, we continue past Kogel Bay’s azure waters and Pringle Bay’s charming houses.
Then, we travel through Betty’s Bay and Rooi Els, adding more scenic highlights.
Whale Watching in Hermanus
As we approach Hermanus, we stop at Fernkloof Nature Reserve for a wonderful viewpoint.
Additionally, this spot lets you appreciate both landscapes and whale-watching opportunities.
Later, you can choose to walk the cliff path for close-up whale spotting.
Or alternatively, you may opt for a whale-watching boat tour — booking in advance is recommended.
Return via Elgin and Sir Lowry’s Pass
Meanwhile, the return journey crosses Elgin’s apple orchards and climbs up Sir Lowry’s Pass.
Furthermore, from this vantage point, you can enjoy sweeping views across False Bay.
If conditions are clear, you may even glimpse Table Mountain in the distance.

The views and impressions, but also the inside informations on the tour were very special and even though I had to realise I would not make it back to the cable car station (I was around 250 / 1500 altitude meters short…), I still loved every meter I rode.
Patrick was kind enough to go on on his self to get his car, after which he fetched me and brought me to my car.
In a nutshell: Patrick is a very nice and fit guy you enjoy being around with that knows the Cape very well. I can recommend booking him–should I be travelling to CT again, I will do so myself!asseeger
