About this Tour
Springtime in Cape Town is the time for whale watching tour. During spring months, the Southern Right Whale migrates from the Antarctic regions to the Cape Coast’s warm waters. Undeniably, Walker Bay in Hermanus is the ideal place to view these magnificent mammals to calve
Firstly, our tour takes us from Cape Town to Hermanus along the rugged scenic coastal route. Driving through the following places: Gordon’s Bay, Clarence drive, renowned for its breathtaking views and often considered one of the most scenic drives in Cape Town. Followed by Kogel Bay, a stunning stretch of coastline with azure waters and rugged cliffs. Passing through the charming coastal villages of Rooi Els, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay before arriving at the Fernkloof nature reserve viewpoint. Located nearby Hermanus, the Fernkloof nature reserve provides an excellent opportunity to spot whales. The afternoon will be spent in Hermanus with a few options. The first option is walking along the Cliff Path, stretching for several kilometers along the rugged coastline. It provides ample opportunities to observe these magnificent creatures up close. Second option is the boat whale watching tour (booking in advance essential)
Our return journey takes us through the apple orchards of Elgin before reaching Sir Lowry’s Pass viewpoint. You’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. On a clear day, you can see across False Bay and might catch glimpses of Cape Point and the familiar sight of Table Mountain in the distance. Cape Escape Tours offer daily excursions to Hermanus.

Any tour would be great but I’d say full days are the greatest. Going back to Cape Town I’d book everyday with him. Thank you Patrick for being amazing keep on being you as you are simply the best.

I had the pleasure to (try) the “Mini” peninsula all day tour. Patrick met me at the lower table car station at Table Mountain to start the tour. I was… read more his only guest, so we had lot’s of time to chat. Being in CT for 30 years and doing mtb for more than 15, Patrick definitely knows the ins and outs and is a very good guide.
The views and impressions, but also the inside informations on the tour were very special and even though I had to realise I would not make it back to the cable car station (I was around 250 / 1500 altitude meters short…), I still loved every meter I rode.
Patrick was kind enough to go on on his self to get his car, after which he fetched me and brought me to my car.
In a nutshell: Patrick is a very nice and fit guy you enjoy being around with that knows the Cape very well. I can recommend booking him–should I be travelling to CT again, I will do so myself!
